The Virtual Card Catalog

PLEASE NOTE: This is a test version of the Virtual Card Catalog. Users will be able to view a limited number of collections through the site. Please consult The Filson's online catalog or contact Special Collections staff for more information on collections.

The Virtual Card Catalog allows researchers to search the manuscript collections housed in The Filson's Special Collections Department in more detail. The Virtual Card Catalog combines two of our research tools: the old fashioned card catalog and the printed finding aids.

Researchers can browse the collections by subject, author, or title, and search the collections by keyword using the links on the above menu bar. When searching or browsing you will find links to our finding aids. click on the title of the collection to view the finding aid. Each finding aid includes biographical information on the author(s) of the collection, the scope and content of the collection, index terms, and a list of folders. When reviewing the index terms on the finding aids, click on the term "View Catalog Cards" to see the catalog cards for each subject heading in the collection.

To search by keyword or browse by author, subject, or type of collection, click the appropriate link above.
